Branches of Social Science


There are endless branches of social sciences but many fall under the main headings below. 

Anthropology-  is the story of humans, past and present. Draws upon knowledge from the social and biological sciences. 

SociologySociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions. sociology s purpose is to understand how human action and consciousness both shape and are shaped by surrounding cultural and social structures.

Human Geography - is the branch of Geography that deals with the study of people and their communities, cultures, economies, and interactions with the environment by studying their relations with and across space and place.

History- historians produce knowledge about the past . History is the the study of past events, particularly in human affairs.

Economics- the study of how the branch of knowledge concerned with the production, consumption, and transfer of wealth. The science that deals with the production, distribution, and consumption of commodities.

Political Science- is the study of the ways in which political power is acquired and used. Political science focuses on the theory and practice of government and politics at the local, state, national, and international levels.

Psychology- is the scientific study of the mind. and behaviour. The word "psychology" comes from the Greek word psyche meaning "breath, spirit, soul", and the Greek word logia meaning the study of something.
